Stellar flavours of northern Italy

Starting tomorrow, a brilliant young chef who has flown in from Italy, Nicola Silvestri, chef-owner of the Michelin-starred Il Gelso di San Martino in Lombardy, will be creating a special menu at L'ulivo Italian Cuisine, a restaurant on Narathiwat Soi 7 run by a childhood friend of his, chef Danilo Aiassa.

Over nine days, Silvestri will be treating customers to a range of classic Italian dishes presented in a contemporary manner. Unusual menu item include: pineapple soup with salmon carpaccio, passion fruit and peanuts; stuffed ravioli with Emilia Romagna-style beef ragu and Parmigiano-Reggiano dressing; and millefeuille with chantilly caramel cream, passion fruit and tropical fruit.

Tomorrow, to mark Silvestri's arrival, the restaurant will be offering a special four-course wine dinner costing 2,000 baht per person.
