Chalerm: Arrest Suthep within 48 hrs

Labour Minister Chalerm Yubamrung on Tuesday called for Bangkok police chief Kamronwit Thoopkrachang to arrest anti-government protest leader Suthep Thaugsuban on insurrection charges within 48 hours.

Mr Suthep has been charged with insurrection in violation of Section 113 of the Criminal Code relating to his supporters' invasion of state offices, including the Finance Ministry and the government complex on Chaeng Watthana Road.

Mr Chalerm said Mr Suthep’s call for caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and her cabinet to step down by 10.30pm tonight to make way for an unelected “People’s Council” cannot be carried out since it would equate to an act of malfeasance under Section 157 of the Criminal Code.

He added that a royal decree endorsed by His Majesty the King on Monday night stated a general election would take place on Feb 2, so the prime minister and the Election Commission chairman must act as caretakers to ensure the decree is properly executed.

He urged Pol Lt Gen Kamronwit to arrest Mr Suthep on insurrection charges within the next two days.

Mr Chalerm said anti-government protesters should return home because their demand to hand power back to the people has been met with the dissolution of parliament and the promise of fresh elections.

What will he do if no arrest will be made? Why would he order an arrest when he is not even sure of his position now that his big boss is in trouble.
Discussion 2 : 11/12/2013 at 07:05 AM
Just like the misled protesters, you do not know the law involved when you want to arrest person in another country. Even if you managed to come face to face with Thaksin, you cannot arrest him without the cooperation from them. You might get yourself arrested instead. The world accepted that Thaksin is politically persecuted and do not want to get entangled with Thai politics. AV went as far as lying that he has international arrest warrant but you know where is Thaksin still. Forget about him. Sort out your fear of him and win election.

Does anyone remember if Labor Minister Chalerm ever made a decision related to labor?
Discussion 4 : 10/12/2013 at 11:18 PM
Is this not the Minister whose son tried to make people believe that Lamborghini, Ferrari and opthers have assembly factories in Thailand? As a ministe, hwe should show Governmental solidarity, and observe the rules of a caretaker government: no more decision, no more inflammatory speeches. He is welcomed to run for elections, and may be win again a seat or a portfolio. But if he is listening to the "people power", he should carefully choose the cars he travels with. Ans as a Labor minister, he should devote his time to improve working conditions of all workers in this country. This is his primary role, even until the next elections.

I am guessing they wrote a simple script that logs in and votes like for their buddies and votes dislike for the rest of us, logs out and then repeats the process. The speed that the likes/dislikes are multiplying is beyond humans unless they have really hired a bunch. My vote is on a script.

The pro lawlessness know how much they get paid. They are now panicking because they were so used to all the likes they got and their bosses are threatening if their clicks don't improve, they will not get paid. The pro democracy don't get paid, they simple do not like the way pro lawlessness are conducting themselves here. You read a lot of their accusations but no evidence ever produced.

yep its funny now with the new style of BP, some posts get plastered with likes or dislikes in really odd numbers. Its getting to the point where the comments are better reading than the news. As long as we do not get too serious about it all everything is good.

Since when does the labor minister give instructions to police?
Discussion 9 : 10/12/2013 at 09:51 PM
naah, Kamronwit won't arrest suthep, he'll ask him to pin rank stripes to his breast, get the photo and hang it in his office alongside the one from the other guy he was supposed to arrest. dislike dislike dislike dislike Note to self: boycott all voting in Thailand, it's manipulated by the T, even on simple forums.
Discussion 10 : 10/12/2013 at 09:48 PM
Is it really happening like that, people being paid to read the comments, analyse which side and then hit the like or dislike?
Discussion 11 : 10/12/2013 at 09:47 PM
I guess the the CAPO did not listen to the DON in Dubai, now the DON is asking for his favorite whipping boy to speak up. Chalerm the champ who has failed miserably at all the other positions he has held for the PTP Gov'T. Hey Chalerm what ever happened to your great plan to get rid of drugs in Thailand in 6 months. Some people should be seen and not heard and some should not be seen or heard ... 555

Ha ha ha.. I have noticed that as well. From being extremely ill received here - all of a sudden there was a storm of government supporters evening out the likes and dislikes. 200 baht per day and an English teacher telling people where to click? (because the clicks aren't consistent as some comments are clearly misunderstood :) )
Discussion 13 : 10/12/2013 at 09:34 PM
BTW - Like defat, I went up by 30 dislikes simultaneously in 1 minute. The opposition can't count, but boy can they manipulate votes. They are experts at it.

/ How can I get a job clicking like for the pro-government comments and clicking dislike for the anti government comments. What is the daily pay rate?

Why is Chalerm wasting his last few days on Earth with an attack on Suthep? He has promised that if he failed to bring Thaksin back by 31st December, he could be beheaded. Since it looks unlikely that Thaksin will be back soon, he should stay at home with his family and enjoy his last month in peace and leave Suthep alone.
Discussion 17 : 10/12/2013 at 08:53 PM
Chalerm represents the epitome of incompetence and shameless self-promotion. His diatribes are hollow and without any merit or truth. He is surely a hindrance to truth and justice for the Thai people. He must be excised from public office forever.
Discussion 18 : 10/12/2013 at 08:45 PM
The thing is that all accusations they are throwing at each other are all true. No need lying about that. Most things are facts. They all are people who should not be allowed control over anything more than lunch money. Whoever wins this one, Thailand loses. In this conflict, as a politician, if you can not build bridges, defuse this situation, and get accepted as representative for ALL people, you have no right to be in power. This problem will be swept under the mat for another 2 years, and then it's mob-time again. Nothing is getting solved here AGAIN. Like a dog chasing it's own tail.

As tweeted from Tulsathit in the other online news source: "Protesters to Chalerm: Before you arrest Suthep, there's a fugitive named Thaksin out there." Come on Chalerm the double standards your party continually uses are getting rather tiresome.

Very good! Khun Chalerm. Keep delaying the inevitable. Keep threatening. The people have taken the streets for a reason and they won't go home until they get what they want. The longer the delay the greater the change. Yingluck did a good job when she arrogantly refused to dissolve the parliament. Eventually, she had to give in. That's the kind of attitude that will make more people join the demonstrations and hopefully, they are learning to NEVER trust politicians. Vote for them and then keep asking questions, keep checking and evaluating and if the performance isn't satisfactory, make sure that they hit the road and don't come back.

Good old mate Chalerm is back in the picture. You won't be able to say much on January the 1st when ANOTHER PT promise is broken and your head is missing. Or was that a fake promise. A little white lie that needed to be said?
