Gen Prawit: No talks with Suthep

Former defence minister Prawit Wongsuwan on Wednesday said he had not had any discussion with anti-government leader Suthep Thugsuban, and media reports that he had talked with him were wrong.

It was reported that Mr Suthep held talks with Gen Prawit on the ongoing political turbulence at the 11st infantry regiment in Bang Khen district of Bangkok late on Tuesday afternoon.

It was also reported that top brass also at the discussion included commanders of the armed forces and former army chief Gen Anupong Paochinda.

Gen Prawit insisted that the report was totally baseless.

He also denied as groundless a report that he is tipped to be the interim prime minister in the event that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra steps down from the post.
