B3.7bn bonus for civil servants

The Comptroller-General's Department is poised to pay 3.745 billion baht in bonuses to civil servants this December, according to director-general Manas Jemveha.

A total of 3.4 billion baht has been transferred from the Budget Bureau for the payments, while another 345 million baht is being taken from unspent budgets already allocated to government agencies.The bonuses are being paid to civil servants based on their performance in the 2012 fiscal year.

The criteria for the bonus payments have already been set. The department said it is confident it will complete the payments this month.

The campaigning has begun. Expect lots of press releases regarding the damage done / hardships created by protestors / opposition / DEMs, expect lots of year end bonuses from "unused budgets", expect the caretaker cabinet to somehow find money to pay off the rice farmers. Vote buying at the expense of tax payers.

No doubt each bonus payment will carry a reminder that it was courtesy of the PTP.
