Another reform forum tomorrow

The government will hold another forum on reform tomorrow, after the first on Sunday received a satisfactory response, Prime Minister's Office permanent secretary Thongthong Chandrangsu said on Monday.

Mr Thongthong said a summary of yesterday's forum at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre had been forwarded to caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra.

He said most of those who attended the Sunday forum agreed the elections should be held as scheduled on Feb 2.

For continuity, another forum would be held tomorrow, attended by academics and representatives of seven business organisations. The venue would be announced later.

Mr Thongthong said he would try to contact the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) and the Democrat Party and invite them to send their representatives to attend this round of talks. He said he hoped they would cooperate.

Like indipendent thinkers in this comments .... A government forum without the PM is only a farce.

Reform of the manner in which the two leading parties/protagonists spar with each other is perhaps most important, though the initiative to organise it should come from neither.

"had been forwarded to caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra." So much about PT Forums ...

The government certainly is maintaining momentum in it's lead to find a way forward, , it's good to see so many independent thinkers participate in these reform forums.

What I think is going to happen is: reform of the political system, by the political system, for the good of the political system. Just a bunch of cosmetics to preserve the status quo.

One would think that when PDRC has a government sponsored platform to deseminate its propoganda, the PDRC would grab it. The Democrats similarly have the opportunity to sell its Agenda for the coming elections on Feb 2 on this forum, they are not grabbing it too. This event would be televised and uncensored as that! What a pity as I for one would like to see them debate their convictions in public. Its a question of your ideas against mine and lets see which ideas would the general public buy into. Then we can have two hands to make a clapping sound.
