Police escape injury in Pattani bomb

Five policemen escaped unhurt when a bomb exploded as they made their way to escort teachers to work in Kapho district of Pattani province on Thursday morning, police said.

Pol Lt Waipote Khunthiang said the five policemen were travelling on an armoured pick-up truck when the bomb exploded at 7.50am near Village No 4 in tambon Talo Duraman.

The vehicle was damaged, but the policemen were not hurt.

Police found electric wires leading from the bomb crater to a roadside forest. Militants hiding in the forest are suspected to have detonated the device.
