"The party agrees that the country needs reform. However, since a royal decree has been issued, the party will take part in the elections. I believe the elections will definitely be held as scheduled," said the Chart Pattana leader.
Mr Wannarat said his party was in the process of selecting candidates. The party would field 125 candidates on the party list. As for the 375 constituencies, the party would run only in hopeful ones, particularly those in the Northeast.
"We are not ready to contest in the South," he added.
Mr Wannarat said it was still not certain whether Suwat Liptapanlop, one of the party's co-founders, would run.
He expected this would be clear on Dec 23, the first day for the registration of candidates on the party list system.
The party would reveal its first 10 candidates on the party list on Dec 21.
It was earlier reported that Chart Pattana would hold a meeting of its executive committee on Dec 25 at a Bangkok hotel.
