Fireworks thrower 'a Democrat driver'

Police have identified one of the men in black who threw firecrackers at the Din Daeng police station during the anti-government protest on Monday as the driver of a former Democrat Party Rayong MP.

Pol Lt Col Supat Thongsom, an investigator at the Din Daeng police station, said on Tuesday that police named  the suspect as Anurak "Men" Poontaweep, aged 35.

He said Mr Anurak was a member of the Kraben Thong (stingray flag) group who volunteered to guard anti-government rallies in Bangkok.

Investigators were still questioning witnesses and compiling their case in connection with the fireworks incident.

According to Thai@News@thairedfreedom Twitter account, Mr Anurak was a driver for Satit Pitutecha, a former Democrat MP for Rayong province.

Talk about being smart, at least the MIB knew to cover their faces. Please arrest these thugs. Its funny how anti-govt supporters on some Thai forums and FB have been saying the suspects are trying to hurt them, but it turns out he is one of them. I wonder how that will go down.

Good surveillance work done by Police, Mr Anurak volunteered to help guard anti-government rallies in Bangkok. Now that's an attention getter for armed police already under stress, I hope police charge him with intentionally setting off an explosive device.

Well done for catching the firework thrower. Now did the police catch those who threw FIREBOMBS at the protest leaders house ?. An event which seems to have gone unreported on the 'new look Bangkok Post' but was covered on 'The Nation'.

Nothing wrong with throwing firecracker. He didn't kill anyone or hurt anybody. Handle these criminal protesters are more important at this point if you think protesters are violation or unconstitutional like you said but don't just play like dog barking from afar and don't take any action.
