Python kills guard at Bali hotel

JAKARTA - A security guard working at a luxury resort on Indonesia's tourist island of Bali was killed by a python while trying to catch it, police said Friday.

Ambar Arianto Mulyo, 59, and three other guards had caught the 4-metre snake near the Bali Hyatt Sanur hotel on Thursday when it fought back and squeezed his body until he died, said Gusti Ngurah Yudhistira, chief of investigations with the Bali police.

The python finally escaped, the officer said.
