Thailand detains the world record after Libya and Erythrea for the most dead person on the road (WHO datas). Quite a remarkable achievement for the Kingdom really. The passivity of various government tells you how much they really care for ordinary people. Red or yellow, same same nah kap!

U fortunately this has been reported so often it is not news anymore. Locals dont seems to care at all, hiding behind a mai pen rai attitude and attributing this to fate. So wrong!

Best place stay at home. Those in charge [not controle because the clearly are not] should be sacked if there is not an improvement year on year.Make room for more competent people.

We complain, authorities offer sound bites including imploring monks to pray, but the bottom line is that Enforcement, abuse of all Road traffic laws and sheer incompetence of many drivers and riders is the main cause. Road checks and police stops are meaningless, putting up signs will not help if the drier is either drunk or too damn tired to drive safely anyway. The big companies should be fined if their vehicles transgress traffic laws and the Police should police not sit there and hope a driver will stop. Making sure that the Police are sober would help. Sheer arrogance , negligence and incompetence . No surprises then.

When the 'authorities' actually enforce a driving test for ALL vehicles ? Here you see 10 year olds, with their parents permission, riding m/cycles, no helmet no license no insurance. Locally there's an under aged driver who, passing acknowledging police, drives an upmarket sports car to school.

Those would be reported deaths and only deaths at the scene of the accident. So, it is many, many more.
