Extra buses, trains for return trips

Extra public buses and trains will be provided for New Year revellers around the country to return to Bangkok from Wednesday until Friday.

Transport Company managing director Wuthichart Kallayanamitr said there will be more than 7,000 trips each day back to the capital after the New Year holiday.

State Railway of Thailand (SRT) governor, Prapas Chongsanguan, said the SRT would add two extra carriages to each train bound for Bangkok between today and Friday. He said the SRT would also provide an extra 27 train services from the North and the Northeast during the same period.

Meanwhile, 48 people were killed and 541 injured in 496 road accidents on Monday, the fourth day of the "seven dangerous days" of the New Year period.

The death toll over the first four days stands at 209 killed and 1,931 injured.

Oh boy, more busses? That will surely bring the fatality rate up with their safety record. I'd rather drive than take one of those busses driven by drivers throwing down yaba pills and chasing them down by multiple bottles of M-150. God help us all.
