PDRC warm-up march begins

Anti-government protesters started marching from the Democracy Monument to Phahurat and Yaowarat on Sunday morning in an attempt to mobilise greater crowd support for the planned Bangkok shut-down operation on Jan 13.

Large numbers of protesters gathered at the protest site on Ratchadamnoen Avenue on Saturday night to join the morning rally at 10am.

The protesters led by Suthep Thaugsuban, secretary-general of People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) will walk via Tanao raod, to Ban Mor, Pak Klong Talad, Phahurat, Wong Wein 22 Korakada, Worachak, Bamrung Muang, Mahachai road and return to Democracy Momument.

The route goes through areas that are often busy during the weekend. The total walking distance is about eight kilometres.

For sure Bangkok can get large number easily but what good is this really going to do when the PTP are not willing to listen or try to work on a agreement so far they show no interest in working together

Virtually every Thai & foreign correspondent stopped estimating crowd sizes in late Nov.....

The point of the warm up march in a busy weekend area , to gain momentum for the planned shutdown or to boost fading moral among the dwindling numbers of protesters, I wonder how many banknotes will be grabbed this time around.

The impression I have is that Suthep is being set up as the 'fall guy' in these protests, as he seems to lack the intelligence to understand that his rantings and actions are alienating more people than they are attracting to his cause. The question is then, who is really behind these protests, to say nothing of the substantial funding that these protests are needing? Certainly the 'student' groups who are involved in most of the voilence, I don't believe have worn school uniforms since they were 14 years old

Prediction: Suthep estimate that millions turned out and distribute videos making this claim. Every foreign embassy and foreign correspondent (whose main interest is in truthful reporting rather than advancing a local Thai agenda) will estimate crowd size at about 10-20% of Suthep's grandiose claims.
