Poll: People want soldiers to be neutral

The Thai people want soldiers to stick to their duties and stay neutral without taking sides with any groups currently involved in the political conflict, according to Suan Dusit Poll.

The poll was carried out between Jan 1-4 on 1,219 people throughout the country to survey their opinion on the role of soldiers in the present situation.

Asked what they want  soldiers to do, 45.93% said they want them to be neutral and not to be partial, 24.39% want them to look after the country and protect democracy, 13.82% ask soldiers not to be a political tool for any group and not to allow political interference, 11.38% want them to stand by the people and provide assistance while they are in trouble or facing disasters, and 4.48% want soldiers, particularly the low-ranking, to be given moral support and welfare benefits.

Asked what suggestions they have for soldiers, 38.15% said they should not get involved in politics or express political opinions which are not impartial, 28.90% said soldiers should not be involved in improper conduct or neglect their duty, and others advised soldiers to refrain from abuse of power and to sacrifice themselves for the country.

Unfortunately Thai polls are just a joke. Useful questions are not on the agenda unfortunately.

What does it matter? Suthep and the Dems say an election does not matter, so why should the opinion of the people matter?

The proper question that this poll should have posed is: "Do you want the army to discharge its legal responsibilies?" That would have produced a very different result.

Another weird poll. What percentage want a coup? Wouldn't that be a useful question to ask?

............this is not real, this is not happening. After Brave New World, after Animal Farm, after..Shangri-La...........you know what? A country is going down the drain and everybody is childishly watching it happen.. Hollywood will make a movie about it afterwards how a country was corrupted send went bankrupt and the yellow and red people were standing by. Wake me up out of this bad dream!! ...................Thailand???
