Clear pictures of Sunday bomb suspect

CCTV footage has given a clear picture of the suspect responsible for Sunday afternoon's hand grenade attack on protesters at Victory monument that left 28 people injured, police said.

Deputy national police chief Ek Angsananon, who went to inspect the blast site, said CCTV camera footage captured the suspect clearly and it would be evidence to back a warrant for his arrest.

Pol Gen Ek said the suspect apparently wanted to toss the grenade into a tent behind the rally stage, which is reserved for PDRC leaders and staff and reporters, but missed the target. The device hit the roof of a nearby coffee shop and exploded.

He said he felt sorry for the bombing incident and promised to implement better safety measures for the protesters.

Pol Maj Gen Tawatchai Mekprasertkul, chief of the Central Scientific Crime Detection Division, said the gun used by the suspect was a .38 revolver. He fled into Ratchawithi Soi 14 near Khlong Samsen where he hired a motorcycle taxi driver. Police already know where he got off the motorbike.

It was too early to say if the attacker was the same person behind the Friday’s bombing on Banthat Thong road, although the hand grenades used in the two incidents were of the same type.

Police have yet to acquire information about other accomplices in the attack, said Pol Maj Gen Tawatchai.

So, no arrest yet? Still nobody know who he is, etc, etc....

That man on the photos resembles men of the population of Dubai. I am serious about this.

I know who it is, and I am just a stupid falang....I cant say what side he is on...but when he is caught he will be a bit red faced....

Looking at the way he threw the grenade... I am surprised he didn't blow himself up!
Discussion 5 : 20/01/2014 at 05:27 AM
Maybe the police can look at the pictures of some people arrested in 2010 for throwing grenades. There are some pretty striking similarities. Just saying.

I'll be pleasantly surprised to see him on TV, in custody, any time soon...

It is just normal. When you disturbing your neighbors you will pay for it and it is just the beginning because they don't just let you do whatever you wanted. They have to defense themselves by any mean. You will have to accept the consequence of the troubles you make to our society. Get to my properties and causing troubles to my business I will protect my properties by any mean too. Since you don't care why should I care

Problem is the PDRC is not co-operating with the police investigation. This would be impossible in the USA.
Discussion 9 : 19/01/2014 at 10:57 PM
It is certainly not the way the military teaches you to throw a grenade.
Discussion 10 : 19/01/2014 at 10:52 PM
It does look like he is wearing a white shirt, and pants, the new color the red shirts switched to last week at a number of protests.
Discussion 11 : 19/01/2014 at 10:50 PM
If he isn't killed by the police immediately for trying to run away. I imagine he will not be taken alive, if he is ever located, and attempted to be captured.

Apologies to all women, but he throws like a girl :P But in all seriousness, it should be quite simple to catch this guy. Just blast his photo all over TV and social media, if you haven't found him already.

He'll be safely back home in Cambodia by now!

What happened to the id card? I know its not confirmed but AsiaUpdate and TNN24 are confident enough to name them and their job.
Discussion 16 : 19/01/2014 at 09:29 PM
They are doing that right now.
Discussion 17 : 19/01/2014 at 09:28 PM
Well, he has to throw a grenade close to protest leaders so for sure he would not wear a red tee shirt nor a police uniform, nor any sign from an opposant group .....
Discussion 18 : 19/01/2014 at 08:49 PM
Whoever these guys are they seem both amateurish and careless.
Discussion 19 : 19/01/2014 at 08:48 PM
Seems to me that Bluesky/PDRC is missing a golden opportunity to plaster this guy's face to every watcher in Bangkok. They've put far less important teasers, announcements and ads up and there's certainly more at stake now - safety of the demonstrators... anyone else feeling like this is strange to say the least?

Arrest will be forthcoming after all witnesses are thoroughly questioned and all evidence gathered, studied and compared to witness statements. Thailand is very generous in this manner. In the USA you get arrested then sit in jail while the police sort it all out.

The bombers confession will depend on who finds him first. If it's the police he will never speak the truth.
Discussion 22 : 19/01/2014 at 08:01 PM
Sure looks like a pink whistle around his neck. Maybe a protester or poising as a protester.
