Prayuth to visit violence-torn South

Army chief Prayuth Chan-ocha will leave Bangkok tomorrow for an inspection trip to the southern border provinces in the wake of the two separate bomb explosions in Narathiwat province this morning that left a paramilitary ranger dead and three others injured, an army source said on Tuesday.

The source said Gen Prayuth would attend a meeting with security officers to follow up on the insurgency situation in the area and issue orders, but did not disclose which province of the violence-torn region would host his trip.

Gen Prayuth usually travels to the lower South once a week but has not visited in the past few months because he has been busy working on internal security-related problems as a result of anti-government protests in Bangkok, the source added.

The Government invoked Emergency Degree in Bangkok and Prayuth turns his back and go to the South. Is that a sort of message Prayuth is sending to the Government?
