Police said they found 12 homemade explosives, 22 giant firecrackers, one teargas cannister, four bags of nitrate powder and a lot of knotted rope and marbles at an anti-government rally site near the Energy Ministry complex on Tuesday.

Pol Col Kamthorn Ouicharoen, chief of the Metropolitan Police Bureau's explosive ordnance disposal squad, said 26 protection vests and 31 metal helmets were also found during an operation to retake besieged government buildings in Bangkok.

Reports said PTT executives and top officials of the Energy Ministry would inspect the offices on Tuesday afternoon before allowing staff to return to work.

The thugs are firing grenades and guns at you, but you would go in with just a smile? Yeah right - easy from your armchair isn't it?
Discussion 2 : 18/02/2014 at 08:14 PM
Of course these weapons do not belong to the peaceful pdrc supporters
Discussion 3 : 18/02/2014 at 07:28 PM
The police opened fire with live rounds and wounded many protestors and killed 2. While there might be some justification as some protestors shot and killed a policeman and one lost his leg to a grenade, if the police had not moved in the way they did, this wouldn't have happened. If this continues, the army will come out and not on the side of the govt.
Discussion 4 : 18/02/2014 at 07:10 PM
Where is the army with their guns this time? There is a long way to go to 100 casualties and 2000 injured. Get real!

The pictures are quite interesting. Why do the police have to wear masks like bandits? Now that Khun Chalerm has upped the ante will the PM be charged with murder since protestors have been killed by the actions of the police. As Chalerm indicates they protestors had dwindled to about 4,000 why did he need 15,000 armed police to take back the positions in question. I am sure the little old ladies and students and minks pictured posed an enormous threat to the armoured and armed police men backed by their minions of photo op officers. A joke!

It's called a gun and it is part of a police body, hence no weapon. That is why Chalerm calls them unarmed. Interesting part is,that the demonstrators always leave a weapons arsenal to be recovered by police after they retreat from the site.

Wrong. The significant difference is that the Red Shirts are representing the political movement who has won every general elections since nearly 15 years while the current protestors are representing a movement who hasn't won any election since 20 years and intends to install their own not elected self appointed structure to govern.
Discussion 8 : 18/02/2014 at 06:22 PM
who mentioned it would be peaceful?
Discussion 9 : 18/02/2014 at 05:56 PM
Did you forget the dead protesters or is that an underdog class?
Discussion 10 : 18/02/2014 at 05:51 PM
Is bringing out a militia, clad in black riot gear and helmets, and armed with assault weapons to dispel protesters "peaceful"?
Discussion 11 : 18/02/2014 at 05:20 PM
A significantly different situation than in 2010 when the Red Shirts were directed by the PT leadership to burn public property costing Billions of Baht! They were the ones attacking. The anti-government protesters lost over 10 people due to attacks on them. The Red Shirt thugs like Chalerm rewarded as MP's for their following Taksin's "At all cost". "Taksin thinks, PT acts" says it all!!!

The "peaceful" protestors in action : fire arms, grenades and one policeman killed. They are not only anti-democratic but definitely violent extremists.
Discussion 13 : 18/02/2014 at 03:23 PM
Since the demonstraitons have now turned violent, the government needs to announce on TV, protesters have 48 hours to close-down, or suffer the consequences.
