Bomb wounds 2 rangers in Narathiwat

Two rangers were wounded by a bomb explosion while on patrol in Narathiwat's Cho Ai Rong district on Thursday morning, police said.

Pol Lt Jira Sajja, duty officer at Cho Ai Rong, said the attack  occurred about 8.30am at a bridge near Ban Pare Rubo in tambon Marubo Ok, where six men from the 48th Ranger Regiment were patrolling on three motorcycle along a road to provide security for teachers.

Two rangers - Boonpen Liga and Charoonsak Pitakkij - stopped their motorcycle and walked across to examine one end of the bridge. A bomb planted on the spot was detonated remotely.

The two rangers were wounded in the explosion, but not seriously.  They were admitted to Narathiwat Ratchanakarin Hospital.
