Violence toll: 17 dead, 739 injured

A total of 17 people have been killed and 739 wounded in political violence since Nov 30, Health Department chief Suphan Srithammarak said on Sunday.

Of the 739 wounded, 695 sustained injuries in Bangkok, 34 in Trat, eight in Pathum Thani and two in Rayong. Fifty-two remain in hospital - 23 in Bangkok and 29 in other provinces.

The dead include a five-year-old girl who was shot in the head in the attack on the People's Democratic Reform Committee gathering in Trat province on Saturday night when 34 other people were wounded.

Dr Narong Sahamethaphat, the permanent secretary for public health, said the Public Health Ministry has prepared 11 medical teams to provide emergency and first aid treatment for people taking part in political rallies.

A medical team has also been sent to Liptapanlop Hall at the Chalerm Phra Kiat Sports Stadium in Muang district of Nakhon Ratchasima where the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship was holding a meeting.

The agitator does NOT care about how many dead or injured until he grabs again power. Sorry but that's disgusting!!
