Suthep proposes TV debate with PM

People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) leader Suthep Thaugsuban has agreed to talks with caretaker Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra on the condition that negotiations are one-on-one and televised live.

According to reports, Mr Suthep made the announcement on a PDRC rally stage on Thursday.

He said he is ready to represent the great mass uprising, or muan maha prachachon, in talks with Ms Yingluck, so long as they are the only two that take part in the debate.

The talks must also be broadcast live on television stations nationwide so people throughout the country can bear witness, he said.

"Just tell me the date and time. But the talks must be one-on-one and broadcast live on all television channels to allow people all over the country to hear," Mr Suthep said.

Look at Suthep combat strategy, it was full of hatred inside it. Amnesty bill proposed by the government was made cancel after protest, then political influence of TS should be up rooted following later was TS linked businesses were attacked. All these disturbances have shown protesters were fanned up to fuel the make of violence. He is a man of no principle might act dementia action against Yingluck to derogatorily denigrate the government in front of audiences.

since when is the future of Thailand like a lakron tv show ? suthep needs to be locked up in jail and yingluck and the EC need to pay the rice farmers. this is not about 2 people it is about the thai nation.

Agree that K. Suthep will probably find any time and date wrong because he is too busy. The same excuse he uses for missing his court appointments.

He may be green but he is not cabbage looking.

It would have been nice to see the outcome of this open debate but it is not to be, Just heard that she has rejected this open challenge. She must have a very good reason - I trust. Perhaps it is another phase of her warfare to expose Suthep further before going in for the kill.

Shouldn't Thaksin do that too? At least Suthep hasn't been charged yet. YS has been asking for a dialogue, now it is offered but with the condition that everybody has a chance to watch and learn. What is wrong with that?

Ms Yingluck needs to accept this open challenge. She has everything to loose if she doesn't. She has played her psychological warfare very well thus far and survived against all odds. She needs to get her facts right like the back of her hand. She must not be feel intimidated. She must remain composed. This will be a knock-out punch. The whole of Thailand will know the truth.
Discussion 8 : 27/02/2014 at 04:51 PM
Wouldn't it be great if Yingluck had the guts to call Suthep's bluff, then arrest him on LIVE TV?
Discussion 9 : 27/02/2014 at 04:09 PM
Suthep doesn't deserve a TV debate, or any kind of suppor tfrom his country. This guy has made a laughing stock out of the civil-court, the criminal-court and the Thai legal system.
Discussion 10 : 27/02/2014 at 04:04 PM
That could be very interesting. I doubt if either of them is likely to be a skilled debater, though no doubt Suthep will think he has the edge. If Yingluck thinks hard about it and plays within her limitations, she could yet puncture the demagogue's braggadocio. My guess is that, should she accept, he will then find an excuse to pull out..

Oh yes, please have this debate.
Discussion 12 : 27/02/2014 at 03:41 PM
Off camera is one thing, on camera is a whole different story feeling is one person would spend all of the time trying to bully the other. Remember this important thing, the loudest person in a conversation is usually not the smartest that is why they are loud in the first place.

A debate or negotiations ? It is very different. Suthep, it is not kindergarten or a soap opera : if you have a sincere and honest intention to negotiate, you come at the negotiation table, that's it. Can be broadcasted live on Tv for sure but stop your usual injunctions.
Discussion 14 : 27/02/2014 at 03:17 PM
Now this would be interesting to watch! Make sure they have English subtitles though!

Good proposal and suggestion. Don't know whether Yingluck dares to take the challenge. My word; caretaker PM should take it. It is because he thinks he can talk better than her on account of his age of experience.
Discussion 16 : 27/02/2014 at 02:27 PM
First things first, being a big fugitive, Suthep must report himself to the court first, and he should ask his trial be broadcast nationwide. Suthep and the DEM boycotted the general election, so he and the DEM do not deserve the privilege to debate with democratically elected country leader.
Discussion 17 : 27/02/2014 at 02:22 PM
Oh and now he wants to talk with Yingluck, and again its my way or no way. Sounds like a trap to me.
