CSD chief to run for Senate

Pol Maj Gen Supisarn Bhakdinarinath, commander of the Crime Suppression Division, has resigned from the police service to run in the March 30 Senate election.

The CSD chief submitted his resignation letter to the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) on Monday morning and would register his candidacy on Tuesday, according to Pol Lt Gen Pongpat Chayaphan.

Pol Maj Gen Supisarn said he had been thinking about going into politics for six years now. If he is not elected he would seek reinstatement in the police force, as allowed by the law.

It was not reported in which province he plans to run.

Pol Maj Gen Noraboon Naenna, a CIB deputy commissioner, will be acting CSD chief.
