Two shot near Lumpini Park

Two people were reported injured early on Friday after gunshots were heard near Lumpini Park, the main inner-city protest site of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC), according to Erawan Centre.

The medical centre, operated by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, said it delivered a 31-year-old woman to Police General Hospital after gunshots had been heard at 1.20am. She was discharged after treatment of minor injuries.

At 3.30am, a man with gunshot wounds was sent to King Chulalongkorn Memorial Hospital. He remains under observation in the emergency unit.

The centre reported that since Nov 30, 2013, 20 people were killed and 728 injured in Bangkok in protest-related incidents. Another three had died and 43 been hurt in the provinces, according to the Public Health Ministry.
