HTMS Pattani recalled for maintenance

HTMS Pattani, which has been taking part in the search for wreckage from the Malaysian Airlines plane that disappeared on March 8 has been ordered to return to base for maintenance, navy commander Adm Narong Pipattanasai said on Thursday.

The Thai navy ship has taken part in the search for the missing MH370 in the Straits of Malacca.  So far no signs of the missing Boeing 777 airplane have been discovered in the area.

Adm Narong said HTMS Pattani has been recalled to the Phangnga naval base for maintenance.

The navy's Third Fleet will use its reconnaissance aircraft for the search instead, he said.
