Police chided over late bar hours

The chief of Sutthisan police station and his deputy have been abruptly transferred for failing to enforce closing times at night entertainment venues in their jurisdiction.

The transfer came after some nightspots were found to be open beyond the legal closing time.

Metropolitan Police Bureau chief Khamronwit Thoopkrachang has signed an order transferring Pol Col Preecha Kongkaeo, the police station's superintendent, and his deputy, Pol Lt Col Atthaphol Itthayophasakul. They have been shifted to the Metropolitan Police Bureau's operations centre for 30 days pending an inquiry.
