Protesters 'visit' Finance Ministry

Around 500 anti-government protesters temporary closed entrances to the Finance Ministry on Rama 6 Road on Thursday, urging officials to stop working and join in with their demonstration.

People’s Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) protesters arrived at the ministry around 10am Thursday. They used loudspeakers to condemn the government's failed rice-pledging scheme and the performance of caretaker Finance Minister Kittiratt Na-Ranong.

The protesters demanded that ministry executives stop working within the hour, threatening to enter the building if not.

The demonstrators left the ministry around noon and returned to their main protest site at Lumpini Park.

Another group of protesters meanwhile 'visited' the Rural Roads Department on Phahon Yothin Road in Bang Khen district, Bangkok.
