Abhisit, Suthep face another lawsuit

The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) on Monday filed another lawsuit with the prosecution against former prime minister Abhisit Vejjajiva and his former deputy Suthep Thaugsuban, accusing them of murder in connection with the military crackdown on United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) protesters in April-May 2010.

The lawsuit was filed with the Special Cases Litigation Office of the Office of the Attorney General by Pol Capt Surawut Rangsai, deputy chief of the DSI's special cases office, and recommends the indictment of the two men.

In the lawsuit, Mr Abhisit and Mr Suthep, then director of the Centre for the Resolution of the Emergency Situation (CRES), are charged with the murder of Chartchai Salao, a protester who was shot dead on Rama IV road near the Ue-chueliang Building.
