PDRC rally at Foreign Ministry

About 2,000 People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) protesters arrived at the Foreign Ministry Thursday morning for a rally to ask it not to invite the United Nations secretary-general to interfere in the internal affairs of Thailand, according to online reports.

The protesters, led by Suthep Thaugsuban, Sathit Wongnongtoey, Chumpol Julasai, Putthipong Punnakant, Sakonthi Pattiyakul, Nathapol Teepsuwan, Samdin Lertbut, and Jitrapas Kridakorn left their base at Lumpin Park  about 10am on various kinds of vehicles and took the expressway from Rama 4 road to the Foreign Ministry.

Before moving from Lumpini Park, Mr Suthep told his supporters that he wanted to warn Foreign Minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul against inviting UN secretary-general Ban Ki-Moon to interfere in the internal affairs of the country.

At the Foreign Ministry, Mr Suthep showed his intention of wanting to meet the permanent secretary for talks over this matter.  He was met by an assistant permanent secretary for foreign affairs who said the permanent secretary was still attending a meeting and would come out to see Mr Suthep later.

PDRC core members took turns speaking, calling on Foreign Ministry officials to join them in the fight for the government's ouster.
