Bombing near palace in Dusit district

A bomb went off near Parus Gawan Palace in Bangkok's Dusit district early Saturday. There were no injuries.

Witnesses told Dusit police that the blast took place at about 2.15am when an unidentified man wearing a crash helmet and riding a motorcycle drove past the area on Ratchadamnoen Nok Road and placed the explosive device next to a police forklift truck parked near the palace.

The bomb left a large crater on the road and damaged the forklift truck and a road sign.

Explosive ordnance disposal officers were dispatched to investigate the incident.
