Hailstorm hits 500 Sukhothai homes

SUKHOTHAI - More than 500 households were damaged by a hailstorm on Friday night, reports said.

According to the reports, the storm ripped across many areas of Sukhothai province between 7pm and 9.30pm and destroyed many houses, pavilions, billboards, power poles and trees.

Chandha Raktung, the 58-year-own owner of a furniture factory in Muang district, said the storm blew off most of the roofing on her building, causing damage to the machinery and equipment inside the plant.

In Si Satchanalai district, an electricity pole was struck by lightning during the storm, causing fires at nearby houses.
