Jealous Congolese man kills girlfriend

NONTHABURI — A Congolese man stabbed his compatriot girlfriend to death in a fit of jealous rage after a heated argument over repeated text messages from her ex-boyfriend on the Line chat application.

Patchely Madilu Nsisi, 34, turned up at Pratunam Chulalongkorn police station in Pathum Thani's Thanyaburi district in the early hours of Sunday morning and told officers he killed his girlfriend, Jenny Monga Ilunga Ngoie, 26, at Champs Elysee condominium in Pak Kret district of Nonthaburi.

Police accompanied him to his condo room and found the naked body of Ilunga Ngoie in the bathtub with 15 stab wounds. The knife used to kill her was found in a garbage bag covered with clothes.

A preliminary inquiry found that Nsisi had an argument with his girlfriend at about 3pm on Saturday over her ex-boyfriend repeatedly messaging her on the Line chat app on her smart phone. He lost his temper during the quarrel and stabbed her several times. He then bought medicine at a drug store in a bid to commit suicide and checked in at a hotel in Pathum Thani. It was not clear what kind of the drug he bought.

After taking the medicine, he fell asleep for several hours but did not kill himself. He woke up at about 11.30pm and decided to confess his crime to police. The suspect said he bought clothes and flip-flops in Thailand and sold them in Congo for a profit.

Police later took him to hospital for a medical checkup because he was suffering side effects from the medicine he had taken.
