PDRC visits Irrigation Dept

Protesters of the People's Democratic Reform Committee called on the Royal Irrigation Department in Sam Sen area on Monday, hoping to meet Chartthaipattana chief adviser Banharn Silpa-archa and two ministers of the party to ask them to quit the Pheu Thai-led coalition, but failed to see them, reports said.

Led by Thaworn Senneam, PDRC protesters and members of the State Enterprise Workers' Relations Confederation left their Ratchadamoen Avenue base in the morning and arrived at the Royal Irrigation Department in the afternoon.

There, Mr Thaworn announced that the protesters wanted to meet caretaker Deputy Prime Minister Yukol Limlaemthong and caretaker Tourism and Sports Minister Srisak Purisrisak, having heard that they had each signed a resignation letter and handed it to Mr Banharn.

"So we want to ask Mr Banharn about these resignation letters.  If the letters have not reached Mr Banharn, we want the two ministers to speak publicly to confirm their intention to resign," Mr Thaworn said.

Mr Banharn and the two Chartthaipattana ministers did not show up.

They reportedly left the Royal Irrigation Department 10 minutes before the protesters arrived.
