Army controls radio and TV broadcasts

The National Peace and Order Maintaining Council on Thursday evening ordered all radio and television stations to suspend their regular programmes and relay broadcasts of the army's radio and television only.

Army deputy spokesman Col Winthai Suvaree announced an order of the coup council at about 6.30pm Thursday that radio, community radio and conventional, satellite and cable television stations suspended their normal programmes.

All radio stations would relay broadcasts from the Army's radio and all television stations would air programmes from the Army's television, Col Winthai said.
