Sompote Prasartthai said at a coordination centre of the Pheu Thai Party on Sunday that he and other local red-shirt leaders would persuade red-shirt people in Muang Nakhon Ratchasima district to join the reconciliation activities at the 80th Birthday Stadium on June 11.
On that day members of the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) and the red-shirt United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) in Nakhon Ratchasima will participate in the activities at the stadium, he said.
Mr Sompote said many red-shirts were disappointed with the May 22 coup but later the 2nd Army conducted a reconciliation activity for local UDD and PDRC leaders without infringing on their rights and freedom. Consequently, he said, he realised the military's sincere intention to end division inThai society.
“I have talked with local red-shirt people and most of them agree to support reconciliation attempts. So today I plan to invite red-shirt fellows in Muang Nakhon Ratchasima district to participate in the reconciliation activities for sustainable happiness and the quick restoration of order in Thailand,” Mr Sompote said.
