Prayuth to brief Thai envoys

Military junta chief Prayuth Chan-ocha will have meetings with 23 Thai ambassadors and consul-generals this week to brief them on foreign policy.

Sek Wannamethee, director-general of Department of Information, said meetings have been scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday.

Thai envoys to countries including the US, Germany, Belgium, Italy, Spain and Japan have been called in for talks. They were due to meet Sihasak Phuangketkeow, permanent secretary of foreign affairs on Tuesday, he said.

On Wednesday, the envoys would meet the chief of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) to discuss the country’s position regarding their respective countries.

Since the May 22 coup some foreign governments  have changed their policies regarding Thailand, including limiting military relations.
