Free showings of Naresuan 5

The highly popular new movie The Legend of King Naresuan 5 will be screened free for everyone at cinemas nationwide on Sunday morning, National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) spokesman Winthai Suvaree said on Wednesday.

A total of 160 cinemas across the country will allow free admission for the 11am screening of the film to boost patriortism and make the people happy.

The film tells a dramatised version of the 16th century Ayutthaya king fighting to free his country from the Burmese.

The first two King Naresuan films were released in 2007, each raking in about 230 million baht. The third and fourth films came out in 2011, making 200 million baht and 125 million baht respectively.

The fifth film, released just a week after the coup, is on course to hit the 150 million baht mark. All films were directed by MC Chatreechalerm Yukol.
