Moonwalk record set in Pattaya

A 16-year-old youth set a record for the longest moonwalk dance distance of 1.2 kilometres in Pattaya on Tuesday evening.

Niwat Otthon, a performer at the Mimosa Pattaya entertainment venue, set the record in the Moonwalk Michael Jackson event organised by the Ripley's Believe It or Not! museum in Pattaya.

The teenager started his effort in front of Central Festival Pattaya Beach shopping mall and kept stepping backward in the moonwalk style popularised by late king of pop Michael Jackson on the road along Pattaya beach towards Walking Street.

Pattaya officials guarded his record-setting route and tourists cheered him along the way.

Mr Niwat ended his effort in front of King Seafood restaurant on Walking Street, for a total moonwalk distance of 1.2 kilometres.

Somporn Narksuetrong, operator of the Ripley's in Pattaya, gave a moonwalk record certificate to the young man. She said the activity was planned to entertain tourists in Pattaya during the low season.
