Accident cuts inner city tap water

Tap water services in some areas of Bangkok will be cut or disrupted from late Wednesday night until 5am on Thursday, the Metropolitan Waterworks Authority has announced.

The MWA said tap water may run slowly or completely stop on Chaeng Wattana Road (from Khlong Prem Prachakorn to Pak Kret intersection) and in areas near Prachachuen, Rattanathibet, Sanam Bin Nam, Piboon Songkram, Krungthep-Nonthaburi, Ngamwongwan, Pracharat, Tiwanon and Ratchapisek roads (from Ratchawipa intersection to Ladprao intersection).

The disruption is caused by an accident when workers of Italian-Thai Development Plc, contractor for the construction of the Red Line electric rail section from Bang Sue to Rangsit, struck a mains water pipeline with a diameter of 700 milimetres on Kampangpetch 6 Road at about 8pm.
