RTPO to seek Jakrapob's extradition

The Royal Thai Police Office will ask the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) and the Foreign Ministry to coordinate with Hong Kong for the repatriation of former Prime Minister's Office minister Jakrapob Penkair, according to Pol Gen Somyos Phumphanmuang, a deputy police chief.

Pol Gen Somyos said the police would make the move as Mr Jakrapob was reported to have been in Hong Kong recently.

The Bangkok Military Court last week issued a warrant for the arrest of Mr Jakrapob and eight other persons as a result of the seizure of a large amount of war weapons.

In subsequent investigations, some suspects said Mr Jakrapob was involved with more than 10 cases of weapons seizure, leading to the issuing of the warrant.

If more people are alleged to have been involved, more warrants would be sought for their arrest, Pol Gen Somyos said.
