Chaturon allowed continued bail

The Bangkok Military Court on Wednesday continued the bail allowed to former education minister Chaturon Chaisaeng, reports said.

Mr Chaturon reported to the court on Wednesday morning, when the Crime Suppression Division police applied to continue his detention for another 12 days, until July 14, to allow questioning of two more witnesses.

The court approved the detention request and at the same time granted continued bail for Mr Chaturon.  He is to report to the court again on July 14, when the latest detention period ends.

Mr Chaturon has been charged with inciting unrest under Section 116 of the Criminal Code, defying the National Council for Peace and Order's summons, and violating the Computer Crimes Act.

A number of supporters turned up in front of the court in a show of moral support.
