Large amount of ammo found in Korat

A large quantity of ammunition for AK47 rifles and sub-machine guns was found in a community in Muang district in Nakhon Ratchasima province on Sunday morning, police said.

Pol Lt Col Monsak Kaew-on, a duty officer at Muang district police station, said he was informed by local residents that they had found a large fertiliser bag containing ammunition left in the grass near Mitraparp community.

Police examined the bag and found 630 rounds of 7.62mm and other ammunition for AK47 rifles and sub-machine guns. The bullets were in brand new condition.

It was believed they were left there in the wake of the military's stepped up suppression of war weapons.
