Police confiscated 788 methamphetamine (ya ba) pills and 2.5 grammes of crystal meth, ice, found in the house along with six motorcycles from the 14 young men and women. The group comprised 10 teenagers aged 15 to 19 years and four people in their early 20s and 30s.
Khon Kaen deputy police chief Supaporn Kamsingnok said those arrested were part of a drug network active in the Khon Kaen area. They had been gathering for “drug parties” at various apartments hired on a daily basis and unregistered rental homes to avoid arrest.
Most of the seized drugs were from trafficking gangs in the central provinces and neighbouring countries.
“Our investigation discovered that a 15 year-old, whose name cannot be disclosed, was the person who sold the ya ba and ya ice to the arrested teens,” Pol Col Supaporn said.
“A gang of youngsters under 20 had been set up in such a way as to avoid attracting attention from police. Their customers were mainly focused on young people in high schools and universities, offering them retail sales and hosting drug parties at different locations.”
Police will investigate further as the information provided by some of the 14 suspects had been linked to several other drug gangs at provincial and regional levels, Pol Col Supaporn added.
