NCPO allows 'honest media criticism'

The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) announced Monday night it will allow the media to make "honest criticism" of its operations under a good faith intention, according to its announcement No. 103 issued to amend the earlier announcement No. 97.

The announcement also says that if the NCPO finds that an individual journalist breaches Order No.97 on cooperation with the NCPO on publishing information to the public, the case may be forwarded to the journalism organisation where the person is a member for ethical investigation.

The new announcement excluded the NCPO's earlier order to halt the services of the media that do not cooperate with it and to prohibit criticisms against it.
