Exports now expected to meet target

The Ministry of Commerce predicts Thailand can realise its export growth target of 3.5% this year regarding the export increase in June.

Chutima Bunyapraphasara, permanent secretary for commerce, said on Friday that the export value in June this year rose by 7.2% year-on-year, a positive sign for Thai shipments for the remaining months of the year.

She attributed it to the economic recovery of the country's major trading partners, especially the United States and Europe, and to Thailand's export promotion measures.

Miss Chutima is confident the export value will increase by 3.5% this year as expected.

June's exports at US$20.47 billion was the highest monthly showing so far this year. They were US$19.09 billion in June last year.
