NCPO prepares to downsize

The National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) will prepare to hand over its works to the government to be formed in September before downsizing its operations.

The NCPO will explain to the public that the NCPO is not the government but both will work in parallel, said Gen Udomdej Sitabut, NCPO's secretary general, at a meeting today, quoting chairman Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha.

Also at the meeting, Gen Paibul Koomchaya, chief of legal and justice affairs, told the meeting 43 drafts were pending the deliberation of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA).

They will be vetted by priority, starting Aug 13, he said.

The Budget Bureau will also be asked to prepare details of the fiscal 2015 expenditure budget so that the NCPO can explain them to the NLA next week.

All agencies are also instructed to summarise their operations before the handover of the responsibilities.
