Timor, Bhutan leaders praise NCPO

The prime ministers of East Timor and Bhutan on Friday praised the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) for its work, and promised cooperation.

East Timor Prime Minister Xaxana Gusmao and Bhutan Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay met NCPO and Army chief Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha separately at Royal Thai Army headquarters in Bangkok on Friday.

Both national leaders were here for the 70th Session of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (Escap) that concluded on Friday.

Mr Gusmao said that the NCPO's national reconciliation process would solve conflicts. He also promised to develop comprehensive cooperation with Thailand as Gen Prayuth suggested.

The Bhutan prime minister expressed his understanding of the NCPO's role and also confirmed that Bhutan and Thailand should lift bilateral cooperation in a sustainable manner.
