Antique-car parade on Rattanakosin

A parade of 140 antique cars, many of them rarely seen three-wheelers, were driven around Rattankosin island Monday morning in an activity to commemorate the 82th birthday of Her Majesty the Queen on Tuesday.

A total of 50 Thai and foreign drivers steered the colourful vehicles from the Royal Plaza along Ratchdamonoen Avenue, Sanam Luang, Mahachai, Bamrung Muang, Krung Kasem, Hua Lamphong, Yaowarat and back to the Royal Plaza.

The 140 vehicles included 99 so-called "micro cars".

Ten of the  antique vehicles earlier took part in a rally from Bangkok to Laos to foster the relationship between Thailand, Laos and France.

The event was jointly organised by the army, Jesada Technik Museum and Tourism Authority of Thailand.
