Ministries told to delay appointments

All ministries have been instructed to delay appointments and transfers of officials until the new cabinet is in place, reports said.

The instruction was issued in an urgent message, dated Aug 27, from cabinet secretary-general Ampon Kitti-ampon to the permanent secretaries of all ministries.

This was in response to National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO) chairman Prayuth Chan-ocha's order that they must ensure transparency and good governance in the administration of state personnel.

Gen Prayuth wants transfers and appointments of officials delayed until the new cabinet is in place and the government has declared its policies, Mr Ampon said in his message.

The NCPO chief has reiterated his intention to complete the cabinet line-up in September.
