The budget airline's Boeing 738 aircraft departed from Nakhon Si Thammarat at 7.40am with 139 crew and passengers on board, heading for Don Mueang airport.
At about 8.20am the captain of NokAir Flight DD7805 contacted Surat Thani airport, seeking permission to make an emergency landing, saying birds had hit the aircraft's left wing.
Atthaporn Nuang-udom, director of Surat Thani airport, said airport authorities quickly moved into action to help the landing with rescue equipment and personnel responding according to international standards.
"The crew and passengers were then assembled in the airport's arrival lounge. NokAir arranged for another aircraft to pick them up and flew them safely to Don Mueang on Sunday monring," Mr Atthaporn said.
