Officer moved after pub, casino raids

The chief of Wat Phraya Krai police station on Sunday was transferred after soldiers raided a pub and a gambling den in areas under his supervision earlier this week.

Pol Col Kiatnarong Chalermsook will assume an inactive post at the Metropolitan Police Bureau (MPB) for 30 days pending an inquiry into alleged negligence of duty, and to ensure an effective crackdown on illegal activities in areas of Bang Kholaem district under his supervision.  The transfer order was signed by acting MPB chief Jaktip Chaijinda and takes effect on Monday. The transfer followed Wednesday morning’s raid on a pub called X-cite on Charoen Rat Road where underage customers were allowed on the premises and illegal drugs were seized from the men's toilet. Soldiers carried out the operation shortly after 3am under martial law when the pub was found to be operating outisde of legal hours.A joint task force of military and police officers in the early hours of Saturday raided a house operating as an illegal casino in Soi Chan 51 and netted 16 gamblers and a total of 300,000 baht in cash.
