Tanasak visiting Cambodia

New Foreign Minister Tanasak Patimapagorn and his entourage left for Cambodia on Monday morning for an official visit at the invitation of Prime Minister Hun Sen, reports said.

Gen Tanasak, who is also deputy prime minister, was accompanied by Adm Narong Pipattanasai, the education minister, ACM Prajin Juntong, the transport minister, Gen Udomdej Sitabutr, the deputy defence minister, Gen Worapong Sanganet, the deputy supreme commander, and other high-ranking military officers.

The entourage also included Sihasak Phuangketkeow, the permanent secretary for foreign affairs, Damrong Kraikruan, director-general of the East Asia Department, Sek Wannamethi, director-general of the Information Department, Karuchit Nakhonthap, acting permanent secretary for energy, and Duangporn Rodpayat, director-general of the Foreign Trade Department.

The visit is reportedly to tighten relations between the governments and armed forces of the two countries and discuss various issues concerning foreign and economic affairs.

This follows a visit to Thailand by Gen Tea Banh, Cambodia's deputy prime minister and defence minister, and high-level military officers on July 28.
