Nissan to fix faulty cars in Thailand

Nissan Motor Co said it will recall or take similar steps to fix defective engine starter motors and a glitch in the brake system for around 178,000 vehicles in Thailand, Japan, and other markets.

Nissan said it will introduce measures to repair faulty starter motors and rear brakes in about 63,000 vehicles sold in Thailand, Hong Kong and other overseas markets.

In Japan, the transport ministry said Thursday that Nissan will recall 115,774 vehicles of the March, Note and Latio compact models produced between June 2010 and April 2014.

The car maker has received reports of three fires related to the faulty engine starter motor, though there were no injuries. No accidents have been reported because of the faulty rear brake.
